Bombon Cake Gallery in Chicago’s most populous Mexican neighborhood has the quinceañera cake down pat. Co-owner Laura Cid-Perea handcrafts hundreds of towering masterpieces for this Latin American rite of passage marking a girl’s 15th birthday.
The cakes are literal showpieces, made of fondant-wrapped plastic foam, save for the edible top tier—a gift to the birthday girl—and a part of the bottom layer reserved for the ceremonial slice. (Separate sheet cakes are baked for the guests so that everyone could enjoy the beautiful confections.
For soon-to-be 15-year-old Tanya Parea, Laura created her a marvelous cake for her Paris-themed celebration.
Needless to say, Tanya’s cake was the talk of the party. Topped with the Eiffel Tower, this cake exuberated elegance and class, just like Paris, France itself. What do you think of her epic Paris-themed cake? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
